So the reviews for the new Uncharted for the PSVITA are in. They range from so-so to good. I thought that the only thing that would save the PSVITA from a disaster would be amazing games only available on the platform. The price of the system and the game would be close $400. To me it seems like a very tough sell in the age of smartphones, ipods, and relatively inexpensive apps/games. Does anyone else agree the PSVITA is DOA? Or does anyone believe it'll give life back into the handheld scene?

Vday

My girlfriend bought me tickets to the Bulls game tonight! Oh man this is pretty exciting haven't been to a game all year.

Took some free time on my weekend to play this.
Ok so..... a lot of people describe this game in a lot of different ways. I have heard Elder Scrolls, God of War, and Fable. They are all partially right. There is a lot of noticeable inspiration from other games. I can see the God of War influence in the combat. It is very arcady and a lot of fun. The game is open world but it feels like walking through a canyon (Not a bad thing) sort of like Fable. The game has blacksmithing, alchemy, and gem crafting (Elder Scrolls anyone?)

I'm level 11 about 10 hours in. I have heard that this game can last anout 200 hours for a complete experience. I can see that to be true because side missions here are plentiful.

Graphics are nice overall although the character models leave something to be desired.

Great solid game. Extremely glad I made time to play it. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

Why do I do this to myself?

I'm not even done with Skyrim and I have a bunch of exams next week.
I really wish I were a video game reviewer.

Soul Calibur V

Picked this up a couple of days ago and have been playing it exclusively since. Ever since SFIV I started enjoying fighting games on a deeper level. That made me check this out and take it more seriously than I did with Soul Calibur II. Having said that, I still will not be learning it too much because of the furry of games coming out soon.

So far this game looks amazing like all SC really. The character models, the environments, the effects, they all look top notch, crispy clean. I breezed through the single player and noticed that CG cut scenes are extremely limited. Most of the story telling is presented through a "storyboard-esque" animation. That seemed a bit off-putting since they invested heavily into the presentation and they come up short in the story telling.

This game is about the multiplayer. I took it online expecting ass whoopings. I was right. Many people who play this are veterans of the series and know how to link combos. However, the beauty of the series is that the game is very accessible. You do encounter low skill players and fights get pretty intense because of the beauty of button mashing that comes off as if one knows they know what they are doing.

This is just a quick thought on the game. I like the introduction of ultra moves and EX moves. There is also a parry system to be mastered there.

Testing to see if comments work!

Comments

I was just made aware that you guys and gals are unable to comment on my posts. I don't know why that is since all the options are set so that literally anyone can post freely without verification. I have no idea how to fix this and I have googled this and have found out that this is not that uncommon. :( I hope I can fix this soon.

Xbox sign in

For some weird reason today I was unable to sign into my Xbox Live account. No biggie, I wasn't going to use it. So I pressed OK continue without signing in. However, I was still signed in locally. Next thing I know, I sign in to Xbox Live and all of my offline stats were reset (Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3). Online stats were fine but offline was ALL reset. (That 30 hour offline achievement won't be happening anytime soon).

Signing in on the Xbox has been one of the worst hassles in account management. Kinect makes it completely obvious how annoying it is to sign into Xbox. One has to hold their hand and wait for the little circle to fill to make a selection and sign in, select save storage, ok, etc. THEN if you have another player he has to repeat that tedious task.

I hope they streamline this nonsense on their future console.

Kindle Fire

So in sort-of unrelated gaming news, I picked up a Kindle Fire on eBay the other day. I promptly rooted the device and installed cyanogenmod 7. It turns it into a stock Android Gingerbread tablet experience. For information on how to do this follow this link.

Anyway, I bought the Fire because my college courses require me to read a lot of PDFs. I don't want to print out so many pages. I had an iPad but it was like killing an ant with a nuclear warhead. I sold it and bought a much cheaper and equally as capable, for my interests,  tablet.

Now as far as gaming goes, I installed GTA 3 and Shadowgun. The games look and play great.

Q.U.B.E

Q.U.B.E: Quick Understanding of Block Extrusion

I just picked up Q.U.B.E. To point out the obvious first, yes it looks a lot like Portal. It also feels a lot like portal. First person platforming, puzzle solving, white environment aesthetics. The character you play as never speaks and you don't really know why you are where you are.  It's basically Portal without the portals. However, that's not a bad thing. The puzzles deal with you manipulating the environment to advance to the area. The manipulation involves rolling a color coded ball to its designated location. Easier said than done. You have to raise and lower blocks, push and pull blocks, rotate walls. Pretty fun indie game that should be checked out. Link at the top.

Super Mario 3D UPDATE

There is an entire new game after beating the first 8 worlds in Super Mario 3D!

The first 8 were way too easy!

I am so excited to finish these 8 new worlds. I also have to hurry because I put my 3DS with Zelda and Mario up on ebay.

Anyways that is all.

P.S

Screw SOPA and PIPA

Skyrim... Again

I don't have the beefiest computer but it runs Skyrim. Plays way better than on 360. No surprise there obviously. Don't know if I can afford to get lost in it all over.
